Master Sgt. Tulsa Tulaga Tuliau was born in San Francisco, August 1, 1972 and raised in American Samoa. He enlisted in the US Army in March of 1992 and was an artillery non-commissioned officer assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 314th Regiment of the Army Reserve's 78th Division (Training Support) based at Fort Drum. He was in Baghdad serving with the 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, Division Artillery, 10th Mountain to train members of the Iraq police force.
MSG. Tuliau was Posthumously awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received as a result of hostile actions, the Bronze Star for meritorious service and the Combat Action Badge for actively engaging or being engaged by the enemy.
Mr. Tuliau married Katharine J. Ellis of Pierrepont Manor, November 9, 2000. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Vanessa (3) and Sophia (2), at home. He is the son of Masina Tuliau of Lumâ Ta'û, Manu'a and Tulaga Tuliau who is deceased. MSG Tuliau's family resides in Watertown, New York (wife and children) and in American Samoa (mother). 2 sisters, Opal Tuliau, Seattle, and Sa Tuliau, Samoa.
