Lois Skinner Davis, 95 died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and devoted caregivers. Lois was born January 14, 1919 in Normangee, Texas to Clarence and Bertie Skinner. After graduating from Madisonville High School in 1937, Lois took a bus to Austin Texas, where she found her first secretarial job and her husband Edwin Davis.
Lois and Edwin later moved to Houston, had three children of their own, and later welcomed their two nieces into their home. Throughout her adult life, Lois always stayed very active and enjoyed the card game of Bridge, Garden Club, and other various social outlets. Later in life, Lois found great pleasure in caring for the babies in the Second Baptist Church nursery where she faithfully served for 25 years. Lois is preceded in death by her husband Edwin, son-in-law Lee McLain, and daughter-in-law Beverly Davis. She is survived by daughter Patty McLain, daughter Pamela Ratliff, and son-in-law Kim Ratliff, son Richard Davis, nieces Jan Danvers and husband Bill, and Ann Brown and husband Jay. She also survived by grandchildren, Kelly McCrea and husband Reese, Lance McLain and wife Amy, Kasey Ratliff and wife Katherine, and Blake Ratliff and wife Jaime. Lois was also blessed with six great-grand children, Caroline, Dillon, Sydney, Camden, Blake Jr., and Sam.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 15 in the Second Baptist Chapel at 6400 Woodway Drive, Houston, Texas 77057.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Team Kids Ministry at Second Baptist Church.
