BONAR

James I. Bonar, 84, of Walton passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012 at his residence. He was owner of the Benton-Bonar Dept. Store for thirty eight years in Walton and funeral director at the Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home in Verona. He was a member & Deacon Emiritus at Walton First Baptist Church, member of Walton- Verona Lodge #719 F & AM for 60 years, member of Indra Consistory of the Scottish Rite of Covington, past president of the North Central Firemen's Association, former chief of the Walton Volunteer Fire Dept. and former member of Walton -Verona Board of Education and Walton Board of Adjustments. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was the son of the late Arthur and Nancy Pearl Rankin Bonar. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Benson, a brother, Gordon Bonar, a sister, Nancy Monnig and granddaughter, Amber Benson. Survivors include his wife of sixty five years, Louise Benton Bonar of Walton; a son, John (Barbara) Bonar of Lakeside Park; a daughter, Jayme(James) Bridges of Walton and six grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-8pm, Tuesday, February 7 and after 10am, Wednesday, February 8 with funeral service at 11am at Walton First Baptist Church, 47 South Main St., Walton, KY 41094. Burial will be in the New Bethel Cemetery, Verona, KY. Memorials are suggested to the Rising Star Studios, C/O New Perceptions, 130 Sperti Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017 or Golden Oldies C/O Walton First Baptist Church, 47 South Main St., Walton, KY 41094.
