The seventh of eight children, Bernadine E. Simon Deavy was born September 28, 1910 in Campbell County, Kentucky to Henry George Simon and Apollonia “Loney” Hoffmann Simon. On October 17, 1936 she married James B. Deavy, almost four years her junior, and they had two children: Patricia Jean “Patsy” Deavy Noll and James Henry Deavy. Her ancestry was German.

Predeceasing her husband, Bernadine died December 16, 1969 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio at age 59. She is buried near her husband at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wilder, Campbell County, Kentucky. Along with her sisters Christine and Mary, Bernadine is the third of four generations of mothers and daughters buried there. Bernadine’s maternal grandmother, Maria Ann Schneider Hoffmann Simon; sisters, Mary A. Simon Duvelius and Anna Christine Simon Stauber; and niece, Mary Margaret Stauber Donnelly, are all buried there. While cemetery records show her and her husband’s graves are unmarked, family insist they are marked but hard to find. Thanks to "Law" for finding the graves and photographing them.

Thanks so much to her nephew Lee Stauber for much of this information. Any errors, however, are mine alone. Please go to the “edit” link on this site with any corrections or additions. Thanks also to Carol S. for transferring this site to me. I hope others will add more photos of Bernadine. If a closer relative would like to manage this site, please let me know.
