He was born on December 11, 1943 in Lexington, Mississippi the son of Willie James Collier, Sr. and Elnoria Collier. He was preceded in death by his parents. He attended school in Mississippi. He worked for Springfield Electric Supply Company for 41 years and Sangamon State University for 19 years. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of the Holy City Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Ministry. He married the love of his life Estella Wells on February 11, 1960.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 54 years, Estella Collier of Springfield, IL; children: James (Schuree) of Frisco, TX, Tommie (Deborah) Collier, Sr. of Springfield, IL , Willie (Betty) Collier, Sr. of Peoria, IL, Eugene (Elodia) Collier of Bloomington, IL, Gloria Collier, Christine Collier-Campbell both of Springfield,IL, Patricia (Shawn) Wallace of Glenwood, IL, Erica (Joshua) West of Peoria, IL; grandchildren: Dietres, Marlo, Kenneth (Taneshu), Latasha, Eutoyia, Levi, Bobby, Tommie, Jr., Timothy, Willie Jr., Xavier, Bryson, Justyce, Zechariah, and Jordan. There are 30 great grandchildren; sisters: Nettie (Dee) James, Fannie (Vernell) Smith, Margaret (Rubin) Brooks, Lenora (O’Neal) Payne, Frankie (John) Brooks and Diann Collier; aunts and uncle, Eva Powers, Rosie King, Henry Collier and a host of nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
