Rhythm and Blues Musician. He performed and recorded with the Harptones, a New York City vocal harmony group which was very popular on the east coast, but which failed to gain traction nationally. In 1951, he joined a vocal group called the Skylarks which merged, in 1953, with the Winfield Brothers. Originally called the Harps, with Willie Winfield as the lead singer, and Cita as the writer, arranger, and pianist, the Harptones’ recordings are much sought-after by record collectors worldwide. He wrote "Loving a Girl Like You," "That's The Way It Goes," "Three Wishes," "My Memories of You," and “Life is But a Dream,” his best-known song. That song was recorded by other artists including Dion, as well as an up-tempo version by the Earls. Other artists with whom he worked include the Joytones, Mabel King, Ruth McFadden, and the Cardinals. In 2002, the Harptones were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
