Born October 28, 1959, in Logansport, he was the son of Ronald Keith and Doris Jeanette Cappa Blume.
Bill retired from Peak Community Services (formerly, Woodlawn Center) in March of 2014 after 36 years of dedicated employment and partnership.
He was a mascot of his sister’s employer, Tierney Industrial Warehouse (TIW), for close to 20 years, stopping in to work on rings and “big holes and tires” every chance he got.
Bill had many interests including Popeye, Coca-Cola, Johnny Cash, McDonalds, trains, heavy machinery, the Olympics, Chicago Bulls, Indianapolis Colts, and Purdue, Butler, Valparaiso, and IU sports.
His hobbies included playing with his alphabet blocks, drawing on his Doodle Board, camping, watching sports, spending time with his family and dogs, and singing. He was known for his lively renditions of Happy Birthday and the National Anthem.
A long-time athlete with the Special Olympics, Bill participated in bowling, basketball, horse shoes, track and field, and bocce ball; winning countless medals and ribbons that he cherished.
Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Kris L. Blume and Donald E. Blume; one niece, Kristin M. Blume; and his father, Ronald K. Blume.
Surviving are his mother, Doris J. Blume; sister, Sheila K. Anderson and her husband Rex; brother, Craig L. Blume and his wife Andra; aunt, Bertha (Auntie) F. Selders; nine nieces and nephews, Brandon, Emily, Nathan, Drew, Matthew, Kyle, Kasey, Brian, and Shelly; and seven great nieces and nephews.
Bill was a friend to all and a stranger to none.
Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Kroeger Funeral Home.
Private interment will be in Zion Cemetery, Lucerne, at a later date.
