Actor, Stuntman. Born Billy Gene Welch, he was regarded as one of the best stuntmen in Hollywood, who acted and appeared in over 150 movies and numerous television shows. After serving in the US Marine Corps in Korea, he moved to North Hollywood, California, in the late 1950s and began a career in the movie business. He made his big screen debut in the classic John Wayne film "The Alamo" (1960), followed by Wayne movies “The Comancheros” (1961) and “McLintock!” (1963). His many other film credits in addition to being a stunt coordinator included “Bound for Glory” (1976), “Escape from New York” (1981), “Raw Deal” (1986), “Glory” (1989) and “Way of the Gun” (2000). As an actor, he appeared in “The Wild Bunch” (1969), “The Get Away” (1972), “Tom Horn” (1980), “Scrooged” (1988) and “Palo Pinto Gold” (2009). For television he was a regular on series such as “The Outer Limits”, “Have Gun Will Travel”, “Bonanza”, over 30 episodes of “Stoney Burke” and over 40 episodes of “Gunsmoke”. He died of cancer at age 80.
