Professional Football Player. For fourteen seasons (1965 to 1978), he played at the defensive end and defensive tackle positions in the National Football League with the Dallas Cowboys. He played collegiate football at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina, prior to being selected by Dallas during the 11th round of the 1965 NFL Draft. His career encompassed the 1967 NFL Championship Game (between the Cowboys and Green Bay Packers) and two Super Bowl titles with Dallas (1971 and 1977). He proved to be a stable force within Dallas' famed "Doomsday Defense" which also included Bob Lilly, Larry Cole, Lee Roy Jordan and George Andrie. Pugh totaled 183 career regular season games. After retiring from football, became involved in a successful souvenir shop business. He died from natural causes.
