James Patrick Perkins was born on December 6, 1939 as the son of Grace (nee Quinlan) and John Alfred "Jack" Perkins in Cook County, IL. Jim was raised in Oak Park and served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant. As a young man he worked as a taxi cab driver in and around Chicago. In his mid thirties he became a founding partner and CEO of Laven, Fuller & Perkins Advertising/Marketing Inc. in Chicago, New York and Orlando, FL.
He is survived by his companion and best friend Mary Anne Miller, his children; Brian Perkins, Kevin Perkins and Quinn Nelson and his grandchildren; Isabel, Tucker and John "Jack" Perkins along with his sisters; Virginia Lowecki and Maureen Sansone. He is also survived by former wife, Sarah Simkins Cole. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother, John "Jack" Perkins, Jr., and his sister, Patricia Washington.
