Mary J. McCarthy of Elk Grove Village for 48 years
The funeral for Mary J. McCarthy (nee Jaycox), 86, will begin with chapel prayers at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blocks south of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village, then proceed to Queen of the Rosary Church, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel. Born in Chicago, she died Friday, May 30, 2008, at ManorCare Nursing Center. For 15 years Mary was employed by Elk Grove Village Library and prior to that, Eastern Airlines. She was a lifetime member of Girl Scouts; charter member of the Elk Grove Historical Society; a member of Sheila Ray Senior Center; and a member of the Queen of the Rosary Womens Club. Mary was the beloved wife of John L., to whom she was married 57 years; loving mother of Kevin E. (Kate Fornal), Maggie (Jim Durham) McCarthy, Dennis (Carol) and Ken (Laura); dear sister of Ann Mae (Robert) Cole, Bill (Joanne) Jaycox, Joe (Sheila) Jaycox, the late Richard and the late Tom Jaycox; cherished grandmother of Misty Rice, and Janet, Nicole, Daniel and Will McCarthy; and dear great-grandmother of Riley Rice.
