Jennie was a daughter of William F. and Sarah Welber Chester. They were living in Newton County, Mo. in 1880 and Jennie married Jesse Shaw in 1881. They next appear in the 1900 census of Galena, Cherokee County, Kansas. She and Jesse had several children and after Jesse died in 1902 she raised several of their children. Later she went to California and joined some of her children who had moved out there. She was living with her daughter, Grace Armstrong, when she died there in 1933. She is interred in a crypt in the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, Ca.
