Author. Known for his works of satire, he will be remembered for penning the controversial bestselling novel "One Hundred Dollar Misunderstanding" (1962). Raised in a Philadelphia orphanage, he attained a degree in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked as a journalist in Pennsylvania and Maryland, prior to writing his first novel "One Hundred Dollar Misunderstanding". The cult classic work brought to light the subjects of interracial relations, sex and vulgarity which allowed a subcultural group the freedom of express never before experienced. This was followed with his equally controversial "The Maniac Responsible" (1963) which was regarded as a work of genius by newspaper publications. Gover became a close friend of Jim Morrison and among their years together include an episode which led to the two being arrested for disorderly conduct at a Las Vegas club in 1968. Among his other books include "Poor Boy at the Party" (1966), "J.C. Saves" (1969) and "On the Run with Dick and Jane" (2006). Gover also wrote nonfiction works including "Time and Money: The Economy and the Planets" (2005).
