Sister Pauline Lamirande, formerly known as Sister St. Yolande of Jesus, died at St. Joseph Convent on January 14 at the age of 90. Sr. Pauline was born in Biddeford, ME on July 31, 1924, to William Lamirande and Emma Valliere Lamirande. Pauline was the third oldest child in a family of six children. She received her elementary and secondary education in the schools of St. Joseph Parish, Biddeford, ME. She completed her high school education with the American School. After her novitiate, she studied in Quebec at the Mother House and began her studies of music at Laval University in Quebec and Sherwood Music School, Chicago.

On August 25, 1940, Sr. Pauline entered the Congregation of the Sister Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, also known as the Good Shepherd Sisters of Quebec, in Biddeford, ME. Sister taught piano lessons and directed choirs in Maine and Massachusetts for twenty-two years. She taught elementary school for twenty-one years in Lawrence, MA. She also taught elementary school for six years in Old Town, ME. She shared her gift of music in the community for over seventy years as an accomplished musician on both piano and organ.

Sister is survived by one sister, Rita Lamirande Hammer, of Rochester, New Hampshire and one brother, Robert Lamirande of Salem, NewHampshire.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, January 15, 6:00 to 8:00 pm. and Friday, January 16, 10 am to 12 noon at St. Joseph Convent, 409 Pool Street, Biddeford, ME. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Convent on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 1:00 pm. The burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford, ME.
