Rock Musician. A drummer, he will be best remembered for his work with Crosby, Stills and Nash. Born Dallas Woodrow Taylor, Jr., his father was a stunt pilot, Dallas was raised in San Antonio and Phoenix. His parents divorced during his early youth and at the age of thirteen, he lost his mother to a heart attack. His father was killed three years later during a a flight stunt. Taylor dropped out of high school and moved to California to look for a job as a musician. After meeting John Sebastian, he was introduced to Stephen Stills following the disbanding of "Buffalo Springfield." When David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash joined forces, Taylor was added as the trio's drummer. He would go on to record on their classic debut album "Crosby, Stills and Nash" (1969) and their follow up record "Deja Vu" (1970). After Stills left to pursue other projects, Taylor followed with him to form the band "Manassas." Among the other artists he worked with include Van Morrison and Paul Butterfield. Sadly, Taylor's life took a downward spiral as he became dependent on drugs and alcohol. At one point, Taylor attempted suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach. He narrowly missed vital organs. He later underwent a liver transplant. He finally turned his life around and became a counselor at the ASAP Family Treatment Center.
