Actor, Film Editor and Producer. Mazzola began his career as a child actor with small parts in such films as 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' (1939), 'Always in My Heart' (1942) and 'The Boy with the Green Hair' (1948). In 1955, he landed a role as an extra in Elia Kazan’s 'East of Eden' and later that year, worked in the most high-profile film of his career, 'Rebel Without a Cause', which both starred James Dean. In addition to playing the character of "Crunch" in 'Rebel', he provided technical assistance on the film, advising director Nicholas Ray on creating the reality of rebellious teens from middle class families. Mazzola transitioned into a career as a film editor, working throughout the 1960s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, on films including 'Stiletto', 'Performance', 'The Hired Hand', 'Macho Callahan', 'Demon Seed', 'The Secret Diary of Sigmund Freud', 'Instant Karma' and 'The Mask Maker'. In the 1990s, he worked as a producer on several films, including 'Wild Side', 'Annie's Garden' and 'The Argument'. Mazzola died from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
