DEATH'S HARVEST
William Willetts [sic] died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E. S. Hayhurst in Loup City, Nebr. last Thursday morning July 22 at 10 o'clock a. m. He was born at Bloomsburg, Pa. June 4, 1828 and was, at the time of his death, 81 years 1 month and 18 days old. He lived at Milton and Williamsport Pa. most of his life. He was married in 1849, his wife preceding him to the grave some 12 years. Two daughters were born to them, the one dying a year ago at Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Hayhurst being the only survivor of the family. After his wife died he came to Loup City and made his home with his daughter the past 12 years. He was a physician practicing in Williamsport Pa. for many years. He joined the Methodist church when 18 years old and was a devout member all his life. Grandpa Willetts was one of the best and kindest of men and his face was always lit with a sympathetic smile. He was one of the noblest of his race and the world is better that he has lived. No words can add to his eulogy, his perfect life speaks for itself. Rev. J. O. Hawk, his pastor, arrived home from the Pacific coast just in time to preach a touching sermon over his remains at 8 o'clock Thursday evening. The remains were taken to Bloomsburg Pa. Friday morning for interment beside those of his life partner, Mr. and Mrs. Hayhurst and daughter Harriet accompanying them. A brother who lives at Clarks Nebr. arrived on Thursday evening and also accompanied the remains east.
