Arthur Edward Birch was born in 1934 to Fred and Dovvie Worden Birch. He was severely injured in a mining accident on his 21st birthday, passing away the next day. He was the youngest child of nine, and my Dad's little brother.

He left behind a wife, Janet Weig Birch, one son and two daughters. His wife was expecting the youngest, their second daughter, when he died.Janet later remarried, and had two more children.

Also surviving was his father, five brothers, three sisters, and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his mother in 1947, his grandfather, Lewis Worden, and his grandmother, Flora Crawford Worden Laviolette.

Uncle Art joined the Air Force during the Korean War.

I was only a few months old when Uncle Art passed away, so I have no memories of him.My Dad has told me many stories of how they loved "fixing" cars together as teens. (My dad was 2 years older.) And of how they would drive in the stock car races together, helping each other win! By his photos, Uncle Art was a very handsome man with a twinkle in his eye. I guess he was quite the little scamp in his day!
