Aubrey L. Clarke, who headed a Washington lumber firm for more than 50 years, died at his home on Wyoming Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. He was 83.
A native of Prince William County, VA, Mr. Clarke attended Virginia Military Institute and the University of Virginia.
He left college to assist his father in the lumber business and headed the family firm, L.A. Clarke & Son, Inc. for the last 50 years.
Mr. Clarke was a member of the Columbia Country Club, the Farmington Country Club, the University Club, the American Wood Preservers Association, Railway Tie Association, the American Forest Products Association and the Blue Ridge Rod and Gun Club.
He was survived by his wife, Maude Blaine Clarke, of same address; son L. Blaine Clarke and daughter, Mildred B. Peak.
