Mrs. Myrtle Fortner died at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis on Saturday, June 19, 1993. She was 90 years old. Her services were held at Sapa Church near Eupora on Sunday, June 20.

She leaves six children, four sons, Ottice N. Fortner of Lambert, James Loyd Fortner of Marks, Howard Kenneth Fortner of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, and Bobby Dale Fortner of Memphis; and two daughters, Nona Francis Ashby of Memphis and Julia Bernice Ferguson of Vardaman; two sisters, Sue Long and Nell Haynes of Clinton, LA; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
