Adam Hagerman, Jr., 73, a resident of Archdale, passed away on Monday, February 2nd, 2015.

He was born on May 11, 1941 in McDowell County, WVA to the late Adam and Gladys Clark Hagerman, and he moved to this area in 1981. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for U.S. Furniture and later for Marsh Furniture where he retired after many years of service. He attended Glenola Baptist Church. Adam enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking on the Appalachian Trail. He completed all but 650 miles of it before being diagnosed with Lymphoma. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his wife, Mary Shortridge Hagerman; 5 sisters, Nancy Jane Hagerman, Lois Jean Hagerman, Rosie Keith, Vernie Bales and Gladys Shelton; 2 brothers, John and David Hagerman, and 2 step sons, Toby and Todd Noe.

Surviving are his step daughter, Deborah Pederson and her husband Eric; 2 step sons, Ed and Danny Noe; his brother, Roy Hagerman and his wife Polly; his sister, Alice Beavers. Also surviving are his granddaughter, Christina Miller and her husband David.

A service to celebrate Adam’s life will be held Saturday afternoon, February 7th, at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, with Reverend Dr. Doug Byrd officiating. Interment will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. His family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
