Mass for Dr. Byron F. Flavin, 79, a retired South Side dentist, will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church, 1131 Douglas Ave., Flossmoor. Dr. Flavin, of Homewood and formerly of Flossmoor, died Wednesday in a hospital in Columbia, Md. He had offices at 75th Street and Paxton Avenue and practiced for 40 years before retiring. A Navy reserve captain, Dr. Flavin served in a dental unit at Parris Island, S.C., during World War II. He was a graduate of Loyola University dental school. Survivors include three daughters, Pamela Dillon, Elizabeth ''Barrie'' Timmins and Dana Frances Konig; a son, Peter B.; nine grandchildren; and a brother
