Jack was born, raised and spent his life in Muncie. He was a graduate of Muncie Central High School and was a lifelong Bearcat fan. On October 16, 1953, in Marion, he married Bette J. Wagner.
After almost forty years of employment, Jack retired from Indiana and Michigan Electric Company as a line crew supervisor. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Jack loved antique cars and trains, enjoyed traveling on train trips and going to car shows with his family. He was an avid sports enthusiast and had a lifelong love for the Chicago Bears and Cubs. He cared deeply for his dogs and animals, however his family was at the center of his life. He left a legacy of compassion for animals and love of family.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Bette (Wagner) Green; and his five children, Lisa Green (Vince Akers) of Indianapolis, Jay (Debbie) Green of Brownsburg, Shari Green of Muncie, Jeff (Beverly) Green of Fishers and Debbie Kramer of Muncie; ten grandchildren, Nathan Green, Elizabeth Green, Kelsey Green, Sarah Green, Alaina Green, Becky (Matt) Harding, Libby Cox, Dan Cox, Brandy Akers and Zachary (Anita) Akers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ada Pearl (Via) Green; one brother, James F. Green and one sister, Mildred Lovern.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, with Rev. Marcia McAllister officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 or one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Hearth at Windermere in Fishers, where Jack spent his last few months and was given excellent care.
