Mrs. Wrex (Vena) Colwell, 75, of rural Knoxville passed away Wednesday, May 6 at the Pella Community Hospital following a long illness. She had been a patient at the hospital since May 1.
She was born April 12, 1895 in Marion County the daughter of Everett and Wilse Milner Hardin. She was united in marriage on February 23, 1916 to Wrex Colwell in the home they were presently residing. She was a member of Eden United Methodist Church, taught the young peoples Sunday school class for many years, was a member of W. S. C. S., Lincoln Garden Club.
She was preceeded in death by her parents.
Surviving are her husband, a daughter Mrs. Kenneth Wilma Faye Woody of rural Knoxville, a sister Miss Faye Hardin of Knoxville, two grand daughters Mrs. Larry Jewell Hays and Miss Susan Woody both of Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Funeral services were held from the Eden United Methodist Church, 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8 with Rev. Lester Hancock officiating. Music provided by Pauline Henning, pianist. Pallbearers were Ralph Shivvers, Charles Jordan, Robert De Moss, Marvin De Moss, Russell Freeman and James Vander Veer. Flower girls were Florence Ward and Loretta Jordan.
