Eleanore Elaine Spayde passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 in Wedgewood Estates. She was 90.

She was born November 19, 1924 to parents Frank J. and Dale (Stratton) Hardy in Omaha, Nebraska. Eleanore was graduated from Missouri Valley High School in Iowa with the class of 1942 and attended Omaha University, University of Iowa, and was graduated in 1961 with a Bachelors degree in education from Ashland University.

On April 30, 1944, she married Richard C. “Dick” Spayde and together they spent 63 wonderful years until he passed in 2007.

Eleanore taught business education for 18 years, teaching for Johnsville, Clear Fork, Malabar, and Mansfield Senior High Schools until retiring in 1979. Eleanore and her husband Dick enjoyed playing duplicate bridge for many years. She also taught piano lessons and loved music, but above all, she cherished time spent with family and friends.

She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, and enjoyed taking part in the American Contract Bridge Leagues in Mount Vernon and Mansfield. She was an active member of the Richland County Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her two children: son & daughter-in-law Richard F. “Dick” & Sandra “Sandy” Spayde of Bellville, and daughter Elaine D. Spayde of Worthington; two grandsons Steven Spayde and Thomas Spayde, five great-grandsons, and a brother and sister-in-law Franklin & Dorothy Hardy of Crawfordsville, IA.

In addition to her loving husband, Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Delbert Hardy.

Family and friends will gather to share memories of Eleanore from 12 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where her funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.

Contributions in her memory to the Salvation Army may be made at the funeral home.
