Sports Figure. Romanian discus thrower, and the First Woman Track an Field Athlete to compete at six Olympics. She competed in the following Olympics; Helsinski, Finland in 1952, Melbourne, Australia in 1956, Rome, Italy in 1960, Tokyo, Japan 1964, Mexico City, Mexico in 1968 and Munich, Germany in 1972. She won a bronze medal in Rome and Tokoyo and a gold medal in Mexico City. The football stadium in Bucharest has been renamed to the Lia Manoliu stadium.
