She was born July 19, 1954, in Lafayette, to the late Francis N. and Edith M. Osborne Prien.
Joan graduated from Southwestern High School in 1972 and went on to work as Assistant Director of Compliance at Lafayette Life for 30 years.
On December 27, 2002 she married Edward A. Gedeon in Lafayette and he survives.
She taught sewing and quilting to a group of ladies at Phoenix Manor of Ft Wayne and loved to spend time in her flower garden.
Surviving along with her husband, is a daughter, Jessica Weakman (Kirt) of Lowell, MI, two sisters, Julie and Jeanie Prien both of West Point, along with three granddaughters, Quinn, Ellie and Cora Weakman.
Joan was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Joe Prien.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with Pastor Ed Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at West Point Cemetery.
