He worked in the printing business in Memphis until the mid 1890s when he moved to Oleander, Fresno Co., CA to work on his mother's raisin farm. By 1900 he moved to San Francisco and worked there again mostly in the printing business. He retired in Los Angeles and spent his last 15 years or so there.

3)After Laura's death he married on 9/6/1945, in Los Angeles to another widow Ameilia M. Smith (2/9/1877-5/23/1963). Ameilia's parents were Justus Zinn and Marie M. Berthold.
