He was born May 6, 1904, in Jefferson Township, the son of R. M. and Lana Cree Gwynn and was married July 3, 1930, to Lana Rich Gwynn who survives.
For several years he owned and operated a tavern in Uniontown and made his home in Scottdale before returning to Greene County in 1966.
He was a Cumberland Township supervisor and a member and deacon of the Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church and the Greene Valley Reformed Presbyterian Church. An avid hunter, he was a member of the Greene County Coon Hunters' Association.
Also surviving are a daughter Mrs. Katheryn Hair Balyeat of Carmichaels R.D. 2; two grandsons Howard D. and John E. Hair of Carmichaels R.D. 1; four sisters, Mrs. John (Pearl) Cramer of York, Mrs. Edna Fuller of Waynesburg, Mrs. Clifford (Sarah) Reynolds of Carmichaels R.D. 1 and Martha Gwynn of Jefferson and three brothers, Thomas and Jesse, both of Jefferson and Floyd of Waynesburg.
A brother George and a sister Velma are deceased.
