Brevard - Bessie Allen Ward, 102 of 531 Country Club Road, died Wednesday, June 3, 1987, in a Brevard health care center.
She was born in Henderson County, a daughter of the late John and Nannie Maxwell Allen. She was the wife of the late Thomas P. Ward and was former owener of Ward's News Stand. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and former treasurer of Woodmen of the World.
There are no known survivors, according to Moore Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. today in Ebeneezer Baptist Church cemetery in Henderson County, with the Rev. Duncan Futrelle officiating. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church memorial fund.
