Funeral services will be held Friday, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Revs. Theodore Hendricks and Donald T. Schneider with burial to follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Francis Creek.
George was born January 4, 1906, in Whitelaw, son of the late George and Mary Braun Wellner. He grew up and was educated at Whitelaw attending St. Michael Grade School. He farmed in the town of Kossuth and worked as a self-employed carpenter retiring in 1977. He married Leona C. Zimmer June 14, 1932, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc. They celebrated 63 good years of marriage together. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic church. George enjoyed hunting, traveling and his family.
Survivors include his wife, Leona, Manitowoc; three sons, Donald and Darlene Wellner, Manitowoc, Al and Sandy Wellner, Two Rivers, Leo Wellner, Lancaster, Calif.; two daughters, Sr. Leone Wellner, Holy Family Convent, Marie and Roger Hurda, Two Rivers; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Wellner, Whitelaw, Bernard and Eunice Wellner, Manitowoc; five sisters, Caroline Pettinger, Wilmette, ill., Rose and Joe Chizek, Manitowoc, Martha Baroun, Whitelaw, Gertrude and George Borre, Barrington, Ill., Agnes Sauer, Whitelaw; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Wellner, three sisters, Marie Schneider, Dorothy Moes, and an infant sister, Regina Wellner.
