He was born September 12, 1924 in Chicago the son of the late George and Agnes (Ranzau) Frankenberger. Joseph has been a resident of Antioch since 1991 where he was a member of St. Peter Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Tech 4 Sergeant for the 476th Military Police Escort Guard Co. Joseph worked for the Beardsly & Piper Division as a production engineer, retiring in 1991. On October 17, 1953 he married Frances DiMatteo in Chicago.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Fran; five children, Mike (Pam) of Mason, MI, Carol (Denny) Lewinson of Buffalo Grove, IL, Diane Frankenberger of Antioch, Donald (Denise) of Algonquin, IL, and Donna (Robert) Trischan of Antioch; six grandchildren, Michelle (Duane) Rowe, Tricia Frankenberger, Sara and Rachel Lewinson, Jaime and Michael Trischan; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sofie; a brother, Norman (the late Lorraine) Frankenberger and sister-in-law, Sally (Bill) Dati; cousins, Nadine and Don Cassata; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, Edmund, his mother and father-in-law, Rose and Sam DiMatteo
Funeral services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30AM Monday April 30, 2012 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch, IL. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL. Visitation will be from 10-11AM Monday at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83). INFO 847-395-4000. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions can be made to Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center, or the American Cancer Society, in his memory.
