U.S. VeteranJoseph M. Frankenberger, 87 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Manor Care, Highland Park, IL. He was born September 12, 1924 in Chicago the son of the late George and Agnes (Ranzau) Frankenberger. Joseph has been a resident of Antioch since 1991 where he was a member of St. Peter Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Tech 4 Sergeant for the 476th Military Police Escort Guard Co. Joseph worked for the Beardsly & Piper Division as a production engineer, retiring in 1991. On October 17, 1953 he married Frances DiMatteo in Chicago.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Fran; five children, Mike (Pam) of Mason, MI, Carol (Denny) Lewinson of Buffalo Grove, IL, Diane Frankenberger of Antioch, Donald (Denise) of Algonquin, IL, and Donna (Robert) Trischan of Antioch; six grandchildren, Michelle (Duane) Rowe, Tricia Frankenberger, Sara and Rachel Lewinson, Jaime and Michael Trischan; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sofie; a brother, Norman (the late Lorraine) Frankenberger and sister-in-law, Sally (Bill) Dati; cousins, Nadine and Don Cassata; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, Edmund, his mother and father-in-law, Rose and Sam DiMatteo
Funeral services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30AM Monday April 30, 2012 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch, IL. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL. Visitation will be from 10-11AM Monday at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83). INFO 847-395-4000. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions can be made to Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center, or the American Cancer Society, in his memory.
