Samual Cooksey, son of C. C. and Martha Cooksey, was born near Dean, Iowa, January 25, 1851, and departed this life at his home near Moulton, Iowa, October 2, 1929 at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 8 days. He was a patient sufferer for several years but was only confined to his bed for four weeks. His relatives and friends did all loving hands could do, but to no avail.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Hays, September 15, 1871 and to this, union five children were born, three girls and two boys.

He is preceded in death by one son and daughter. B. L. Cooksey, of Aberdeen, Wash., August 10, 1913 and Mrs. E. M. Burgher, of Aberdeen, Wash., October 5, 1927.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. Mrs. Ida Whitacre, of Aberdeen, Washington, Mrs. E. M. Kincade, of Moulton, Iowa and C. B. Cooksey of Cosmopolis, Washington. Two brothers, John Cooksey of near Dean, Iowa and C. S. Cooksey of Oklahoma, also a large number of friends and relatives.

He was united in the Christian church of Christ at Hilltown in 1893.
