Koutnik, Robert E.

Robert E. Koutnik, age 91, of Two Rivers, died Wednesday evening, February 11, 2015 at the Hamilton Care Center in Two Rivers.

Robert was born May 11, 1923, in Tisch Mills, son of the late Edward and Rose (Konop) Koutnik. He graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers and graduated with a B.S. degree in Economics from St. Norbert College in De Pere. After college graduation, Robert served as an infantry officer in three major combat campaigns in the European Theatre during WWII where he received the Bronze Star. When deployed back to the States, he met and married Elva Young in Philadelphia, PA. She preceded him in death August 15, 2012 after 65 years of marriage. Shortly after, he was admitted into Law School at Marquette University in Milwaukee where he graduated with a Law Degree in 1951.

Attorney Koutnik served as District Attorney for Manitowoc County for eight terms, from 1955-1971. In 1971 he was appointed Family Court Commissioner for Manitowoc County. During this time he was appointed to the State Crime Laboratory in Madison. He was on the Board of Directors for the Two Rivers Savings Bank, President of the Manitowoc County Bar Association and was presented with the National Eagle "Reverence for the Law" Award. He was active in numerous civic and fraternal organizations including the Knights of Columbus, Green Bay Diocesan Holy Name Speaker's Bureau, and was a life long member of Holy Redeemer Parish in Two Rivers, now St. Peter the Fisherman Parish.

Survivors include his five children: Dr. Robert (Monica) Koutnik, Two Rivers; Dr. Edward (Cindy) Koutnik, Sturgeon Bay; Betty (Thomas) Arndt, Oconomowoc, Nancy (Michael) Trost, Atlanta, GA, and Barbara (Don) McMasters, Pinetop, AZ; six grandchildren: Attorney Philip (Jamie) Koutnik, Milwaukee; Dr. Steven (Katie) Koutnik, Milwaukee; Attorney Michael Koutnik, Milwaukee; Dr. Edward Koutnik, Chicago, Katie (Kern) Luhman, Rotterdam, Netherlands; and Ryan McMasters, Pinetop, AZ; two great grandchildren: Roger and August Koutnik. Other relatives and friends also survive.

Robert was also preceded in death by his sister, Jeanice Geske.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, February 16, 2016, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Maurice Mmegbuadimma. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum where Military Honors will be accorded by the Two Rivers V.F.W. and American Legion.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, February 16, 2015 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.
