Tim was the second child and oldest son of Darrell Douglas Williams and Greta Ann (Griggs) Williams. He has two sisters and a brother; Sheryl, Tamey, and Mike. He leaves behind a loving wife, Lori, and four children, Cody, Lauren, Jefferson, and Olivia.

Detective Timothy Williams was a 29 1/2 year veteran of the San Diego Police Department. Tim joined the force in July of 1985 and demonstrated exceptional performance right from the start, achieving number one status in the gold group of his academy. Tim worked a variety of assignments in patrol including Beach Enforcement Team and other special details. Within ten years Tim was promoted to Detective, which began a distinguished career as a respected and trustworthy investigator. Tim worked special investigative units, including Vice, Domestic Violence, Child Abuse, and was currently attached to the Chief's Office as an Internal Affairs investigator, reporting directly to the Chief's Command staff. Throughout his career, Tim garnered the admiration and love of his coworkers as well as the public he dealt with. Few had a way with subjects of an investigation as he did. Be they suspects or victims, most would yield to the personable and genuine manner of this likable man. Tim was also a model of employee work ethic, never leaving a minute earlier than he was being paid to, usually later than he should have. Tim loved what he did and the people he worked with, and his passing has dealt a serious emotional and operational blow to the San Diego Police Department.

Tim was also a beloved and devoted husband and father of four, who are grieved at his passing Lori, his wife of 21 years, met T1m while she was volunteering for the investigative unit he was assigned to at the time, and their love and friendship grew to be a model of family and fun. A tireless builder, Tim built homes and home improvements as much as he built lives, and was a hopeless joker. He loved his own brand of humor, cooking for and making people happy, and reflected a faith, hope and love of the Lord his God, his testimony as a Christian underscoring the stellar life that he lived. He was a man you loved to be around. If there ever was an officer whose home and marriage depicted what life, professionalism and family should be, it was Tim. It was also Tim's wish to donate his organs for the hope of giving life to others should he ever sustain a fatal injury. That wish was granted, and three individuals were given a new lease on life as a result. We celebrate Tim's life, as we weep for his loss.
