Karl was born in New Jersey Nov. 16, 1952 the only son to Dorothy and Karl Speck. When he was 2 years old the family moved to Florida where Karl lived all his life.
Karl grew up in Safety Harbor, went to Safety Harbor Ele-mentry, continued to Safety Harbor Junior High, and graduated in 1970 from Dunedin High School. His classmates and lifelong friends are Tim Withsfield, Gary Reese, Bob Macole, and John Barron.
Karl graduated from USF with a Master's Degree in Political Science and Buissness. He lived his adult life in Tampa where he owned and operated Speck Plumbing. Later he worked for the City of Tampa for many years as a chief mechanical inspector.
He had many licenses, gas and plumbing, a contractor's license to build houses, heating and air conditioning, mechanical, and electrical licenses. He could fix almost anything.
In the years he lived in Tampa he met Mike Lewis, Frank Kane, and Don Walls. They became best friends, a friendship that lasted many years and had many good memories together.
Karl's pride and joy was his only son Dean. Dean was the light of his life. They were best friends. Dean will always remember what Karl taught him and all the good things and fun they had together. Karl also enjoyed his beagle Jacky.
Survivers are his son, Dean Speck; his girlfriend Dafna; Dean's brother, Daniel Peled; a cousin, Ernie Reuter.
