Richard V. "Dick" White , 83, of Pleasant Plains, died on Monday, March 16, 2015. Richard was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Springfield, the son of Vance L. and Hazel Sever White . He married Pearl Brunner on Aug. 7, 1949; she preceded him in death. He was 1949 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. He worked for the Illinois State Police as the LEADS Director in Law Enforcement Data Services; he retired in 1995 after 26 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, building and flying remote control airplanes, and traveling. He was a St. Louis Cardinals and Illini fan. He is survived by his companion, Ann Duke of Springfield; three children: Jean (Joseph) Gaston of Divernon, Jan (Tom) Harms and John (companion, Kelly Hardy) White both of Pleasant Plains; one brother, Robert White of Ashland; six grandchildren: Christina (fiancé, Ryan Waters) White , Amy (Justin) Durako, Jeremy (Erin) Pinkerton, Ashley (Tyler) Welch, Luke (Kristen) Harms and Katie (Dave) Stachowicz; great-grandchildren: Jaron, Carter, Gannon, Lauren, Drake, Ellie, Ryen, Declan, Vivian, and Ruby; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
