Motion Picture and Television Director. He directed scores of popular television programs from the late 1950s into the 1990s. The son of German immigrants, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, while serving with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Following the war, he moved to California and landed a position as a stage manager with NBC. He marked his Hollywood directing debut with the low-budget horror film "The Disembodied" (1957) and later helmed "633 Squadron" (1963) and the thriller "Lady in a Cage" (1964) which starred Olivia de Havilland. Grauman will be best remembered for his directing of such popular TV programs produced by Quinn Martin, among them "The Fugitive," "Dan August," "The F.B.I.," "The Streets of San Francisco" and "Barnaby Jones." Additionally, he directed numerous episodes of the TV series "Murder, She Wrote."
