Helen Kirtack, 86, a resident of the Mid Valley Health Care Center in Blakely, formerly the Laurels, died Monday morning at the center after an illness.
Born in Olyphant, daughter of the late Max and Mary Sheptock Kirtack, she was a graduate of Olyphant High School and was an active member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Olyphant. She worked in the local garment industry before retirement, and resided in Peckville most of her life and then later in Olyphant before moving to the health care center. She was a loving sister and aunt who enjoyed sewing, knitting and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a sister, Lucy Gasper, Olyphant; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew, Alex and Paul.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Turko & Sons Funeral Home, 404 Susquehanna Ave., Olyphant, with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, River Street, Olyphant, to be celebrated by the Rev. Nestor Iwasiw, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Peckville.
Friends may call Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m. There will be a Parastas service at 7. Memorial contributions may be made to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 135 River St., Olyphant, PA 18447.
