To this union, eight children were born, six of whom survive. They are William of Washington state, Emil, Louise and Martha, all of Portland, Ore., Albert of Brooton and Pauline of Villard. The family left Chicago in 1874, and lived at Columbia, Wis., for five years before coming to Minnesota. Mr. Volkman was engaged in farming near West Union until 1903, when, with his wife and family he moved to this city where he made his home until the time of his death.
The funeral services were held this afternoon from the house and from the church, Rev. Bartz officiating. Interment was in the Kinkead cemetery.
