Mabel was born on May 2, 1922 in Reedsville, daughter of the late Emil and Bertha (Boettcher) Wagner. On June 29, 1940, she married Henry "Hank" Fischer in Reedsville. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2010. They were married 69 years and 10 months when Hank died. He and Mabel owned and operated their farm until moving to Brillion in 1990. Mabel was an amazing, smart, loving, kind, and caring woman. She always had a hug ready when you walked in the door. Mabel was a member of Peace Evangelical and Reformed, and she and Hank were very active in the church. She loved to bake desserts, loved her flowers, cherished the time spent with family, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mabel is survived by her children and their spouses: Frances "Franny" and Gerald "Jerry" Effa and Douglas "Doug" and Esther Fischer; a daughter-in-law: Carol Fischer; three grandsons: Roy (Wanda) Marceille, Todd (Dawn) Fischer, and Rod Marceille; eight great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law: Irma Fischer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Robert and Ida (Krepline) Fischer, one son: Gerald "Jerry" Fischer, a granddaughter: Doreen, two brothers: Clarence and Harry Wagner, and other in-laws.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church in Potter. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Dr. Marc Axelrod with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
The family would like extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Pastor Marc, and all of the grandchildren that stayed with Grandma at the hospital.
