John Vincent Bossi, 91 of Arkansas City died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the South Central Kansas Medical Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City. The Reverend Stephanie Wall Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in the Springside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

John was born September 9, 1923 to Vincent Volta Bossi and Gertrude (Tipton) Bossi on the original Denton Farm southeast of Arkansas City in Bolton Township. He attended Arkansas City High School graduating in 1941 and after completing his military service, he continued his education at the University of Kansas where he received his chemical engineering degree in 1948.

After graduating, John worked for Phillips Petroleum in Texas, and then Pritchard Company in Kansas City, MO prior to returning to the farm southeast of Arkansas City. John served during World War II in the United States Army medical corps in France and Belgium.
He was a member of First Methodist Church in Arkansas City, member and former master of the Crescent Lodge #133, member of the Grand Lodge of Kansas, member and former commander of the VFW Post #1254, life member of the American Legion, member and past president of the Sumner-Cowley Electric Co-op, served as chairman of the District #1 water board and was a life member of the University of Kansas Alumni Association.

John supported the College of Engineering at KU throughout his life. He enjoyed his friends and colleagues he knew through the college, and also golfing with friends in later years.

John is survived by his brothers, Jim Bossi and wife, Arlene; Frank Bossi and wife, Helen all of Arkansas City; Tom Bossi and wife, Sue of Winfield; sisters, Catherine Bossi of Kansas City, MO and Berneice Southcott of Santa Monica , CA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Bossi; sisters, Alice Brumback Eggeman and Mary Dermid; sister in law, Norma Bossi.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City or Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund. Contributions may be through the funeral home.
