After his graduation he spent a year in hospitals in Vienna and in Sweden, and on his return began practice in Portland, Conn. While there his health failed, and the most of his life for the last three years was spent in travel. At one time he recovered sufficiently to open an office again, in Worcester, Mass., but he was soon obliged to abandon it. He returned to his father's house from Southern Ca. at the end of the summer of 1889, and was not again able to renew the struggle for health.
