Francis J. Crechard

Francis J. Crechard age 83, of Manitowoc, died Friday, October 18, 2013 at Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Francis was born December 15, 1929 in Manitowoc, son of the late Leo and Julia (Kochan) Crechard. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1947 Messmer High School, Milwaukee. He served in the National Guard from 1948 through 1954. On September 9, 1950 Francis married the former Dorothy F. Schlais at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Francis was employed at Dick Bros. Bakery, Manitowoc Equipment Works and Medusa Cement Company as an office manager for 24 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, a fifty year member of the Eagle’s Club, Knights of Columbus and Van’s Athletic Club. Francis enjoyed woodworking, constructing model cars and playing dart ball.

Francis is survived by his wife of 63 years: Dorothy F. Crechard, Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law: Margaret (Jim) Bethke, Kaukauna; Maureen (Keith) Shebesta, Manitowoc; four grandchildren: Vanessa Crechard, CA; Monica L.(Robin) Skinner, Manitowoc; Zachary Burish, Manitowoc; Amber Burish and her fiancé Jeremiah Brault, Manitowoc; two great-grandchildren: Vanessa and Victoria Skinner, Manitowoc; one sister: Patsy Mandel, Appleton; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Betty Meany, AL; Mary (Rick) Nicholson, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one son: Michael Crechard; one daughter: Monica A. Shaw; infant brother: William Crechard; one sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Marcella (Keith) Vetting, Paul Mandel and Leo Meany.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish – Waldo site. Rev. David Pleier will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:00 a.m.
