Isaac Yeager, a well known farmer of Wayne township, died Wednesday, February 23, aged 80 years, of heart trouble. Mr. Yeager was a son of Alexander and Lucy Thralls Yeager, deceased, and was born September 15, 1846, in Monongalia county, W. Va., but when he was a child the family removed to Wayne township, where he had since resided, following farming and stock raising all his life. His great-grandfather, George Yeager, was one of the first white settlers west of the fort on Jake's Run and when nine years old was captured by the Indians, with whom he lived until he was a young man. His brother secured his release in a trade with the Indians and he returned to civilized life, serving under General "Mad Anthony" Wayne during the Revolutionary war. Isaac Yeager was married to Elizabeth Steele, who survives with four sons: D. A. Yeager and D. F. Yeager, of Spraggs; A. P. Yeager, of Dunns Station, and J. I. Yeager, of Lisbon, O. He also leaves four sisters: Mrs. Louise Masters, of Belmont, O.; Mrs. Sarah Shultz, of Brave; Mrs. Amelia Shultz, of Waynesburg, R. D., and Mrs. Charlotte Phillps, of Spraggs. There are also 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Yeager was a charter member of the Blacksville I. O. O. F. lodge and was a member of the M. E. church. Funeral services were held Friday morning at 10 o'clock and interment was in the Porter cemetery.
