Margaret was born on September 27, 1906, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Benjamin and Katherine Scherer O’Connor. In 1924, she graduated from Lincoln High School. Several years later she continued her education graduating from Silver Lake College. She married Benedict J. Bartelme October 21, 1930, in Manitowoc. Mr. Barteleme preceded her in death in 1959. For several years Margaret was an elementary education teacher at St. Mark’s in Two Rivers and Holy Innocents in Manitowoc. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s Club of which she had served as president.
Survivors include four children, Mary Lou (Ashton) Mahnke, Caherine (Delmar) Hauschulz, all of Manitowoc, Margaret (Thomas) Stobber, Mukwonago, James Bartelme, Chicago; also 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three sister and four brothers.
Friends may call at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m.
Memorials would be appreciated to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Silver Lake College.
