PETER BAUER

The death Saturday afternoon of Peter Bauer, 74, at his farm home about a mile north of Manitowoc Rapids was attributed to a heart attack by Coroner Theodore Teitgen.
The coroner was called to the farm because of the fact that Bauer was found in the pig yard at the farm with five pigs eating at his exposed parts of the body, the face and hands. Bauer was found by his wife and was brought to the house after his son Victor and neighbors had driven the pigs off.

The coroner said Bauer had suffered a heart attack before being attacked by the pigs. Mrs. Bauer said her husband had been ill with heart trouble for several weeks and had been ordered not to go out of the house. He had, however, taken much pride in his stock that he occasionally went out to see them.

Saturday he went out shortly before 4 p.m. and when he did not come back within a few minutes his wife went out to look for him and found him in the pig yard. She then called the son, Victor. On other occasions when he had gone out, his 14-year-old grandson went with him but Saturday the boy was helping with other work. Bauer was found about 15 minutes after he left the house.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, at 8:30 from the Pfeffer funeral home and at nine o'clock from the St. Paul's Catholic church with the Rev. Martin Jaekels officiating. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Bauer was born May 1, 1869 at Manitowoc Rapids. He was married Oct. 17, 1893 to Miss Ida Coutley. He was a former employee of the Rahr Malting Company here, working for that firm for 11 years before moving to the farm in 1915.

Survivors are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Nick Driel and Mrs. Louis Marshck of this city and Mrs. Gordon Tuschl of Sheboygan; four sons, Edward, Reinhart and Raymond of this city and Victor of route 4; and one
brother, Nick of this city.

The casket will not be opened. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 o'clock this evening.
Mr. Bauer was a member of the ERA. He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in October.
