Obituary From the Arizona Daily Star, Tuscon, Arizona, 3 Aug 1930:

LOUIS N. DUFFEY IS DEAD HERE
Well-Known Attorney Victim of Heart Attack While At Hospital

Louis N. Duffey, prominent in Arizona veterans' and legal circles for the past decade, died of heart trouble yesterday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock at the United States veteran's bureau hospital on South Sixth avenue, where he had been confined since July 11. Funeral services await word from relatives in Alexandria, Va.

Mr. Duffey had his home at 810 East Adams street here, and left his widow Mrs. Marjorie W. Duffey, and a 13-year-old son by a former marriage. He had been bothered with heart trouble for some time, and an attack July 11 necessitated his seeking treatment at the hospital.

Members of Pima county's bar will meet Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in the superior court room to attend a memorial service for Mr. Duffey, it was announced last night. Superior Court Judge Fred W. Fickett, Jr. will close his court from 9 to 12 o'clock Tuesday morning in honor of the deceased lawyer.

Mr. Duffey was 42 years old when he died. He had been in the Old Pueblo for more than a decade, and had his law offices at the corner of West Pennington and North Church streets, in a building along the official habitat of many of Tucson's leading attorneys.

He formerly was adjunct of the Morgan McDermott post of the American Legion here, and was associated actively with his fellow veterans of the World War in many ways.

He left a large law practice in Alexandria, Va, to come west for his health. He was a member of a distinguished southern family, his father having seen service in the Civil War, and Louis himself having been honored with one medal for his World War I service. He was a captain during the World War.

He was a Democrat. He was affiliated with several fraternal organizations locally and in Virginia.

While in Tucson, he was at various times known as a tax attorney under K. Berry Peterson, then county attorney, as a law associate, though not a partner, of Grover C. Linn, and as an associate with the Quinn Abstract company.

He was described by his former associate last night as having been "one of the smartest lawyers in Tucson." It was also averred that Mr. Duffy had poise and brilliance to put into his legal work, and that he was known as a friend of practically every attorney in this section.
