Lee A. Polhemus, 59, of Kearney, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital, several days following brain surgery.

Lee, was born August 6, 1955 in Holdrege, Nebraska. He was the fourth and youngest child of Eugene and Helen Oleta (Bradshaw) Polhemus. He lived in Holdrege until 1971 when he moved to Kearney, after his widowed father's second marriage, to become part of a blended family. Following high school graduation, he attended Kearney State College (University of Nebraska at Kearney). Lee married the love of his life, Vicki Jo Albrecht, on September 11, 1976 in Kearney, where they raised two children.

Until his medically required retirement, Lee worked as a materials handler for Chief Industries, a job he loved and a company he respected. He previously owned and operated Sehnert’s Bakery in Kearney. He had a dry sense of humor, with which he amused many (except, sometimes, his wife). In addition to telling jokes and pulling the occasional prank, Lee liked to hunt, fish, target shoot and entertain his grandsons. Other interests included reading, history and science. Lee was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Lee is survived by his wife Vicki, daughter Michelle L. Fangmeyer and husband Len, son Brian K. Polhemus and fiancée Sandy Smith, grandsons Logan J. and Landon J. Fangmeyer all of Kearney, sisters Sandra G. Green of Boca Raton, FL, Susan K. McAdam and husband John of Omaha, NE, step-mother Soffia E. (Benjaminsdottir) (Lindholm) Polhemus of Kearney, step-sisters Betty J. Streff and husband Steve of Kearney, Anna M. Midkiff of Tucson, AZ, step-brother Karl B. Lindholm and wife Angela of Omaha, NE, Stanley D. Lindholm and wife Carol of Cleveland, OH, mother-in-law Vaughn M. (Cherry) Albrecht, brother-in-laws Michael W. Albrecht and wife Linda and Bruce A.
