Kevin R. Reed, a water sports enthusiast, learned to scuba dive in 1976 when he took lessons with his father, Robert C. He excelled at the sport, making more than 300 dives, and took over the Scuba West Diving School about a year ago.
Mr. Reed died while scuba diving with friends Sunday afternoon in ice-covered Lake Erie off Gordon Park. He was 22.
A Euclid resident, he was a 1977 graduate of Euclid High School where he was a member of the varsity cross country team. Last November he led a scuba diving tour to Grand Cayman Island in the Caribbean. He was a certified diving instructor.
In addition to his father, Mr. Reed is survived by his mother, Helen c., brothers Robert Jr., Timothy, James and Michael, and sisters Janet Lucas and Lynn Thomas.
He was engaged to be married to Lisa Dublo of Wickliffe.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, E 200th St. and Lake Shore Blvd., Euclid.
